Fun Night at Summer Season Finale

 Event Results

The end of a very successful 2026 Summer Racing Season was celebrated last
night on the Nga Manu Course with a novelty 10-lap mixed-grade teams relay
race.

Three teams lined up with a mixture of A, B, C & D grade riders, with the three team leaders from A grade initially fighting it out amongst themselves for two laps to kick things off.

Dylan Reid from team 2 had a handy break from George Davie (team 1) and Richard Gibson (team 3) coming into lap three, where they then picked up their B-grade team mates for a further two laps.

At the start of lap 5, the C graders joined in on the fun as their A & B grade teammates came past the start/finish line.

All three teams had come together at this halfway point of the race, so it was shaping up to be a very close, competitive event with all three teams in with a chance to take it out.

To make things interesting, Richard Schofield, the only D grader of the night riding for team 1, came into the mix at the start of lap 7. As the three teams had to stay together and ride at the pace of their slowest rider, Team 1 began to fall behind the other two teams.
However, to compensate for being the only team with a D-grade rider, they only had to finish 9 laps, rather than the 10 laps the other two teams had to complete.

This meant that teams 2 and 3 had to lap team 1 before they completed their last 3 laps.

Teams 2 and 3 worked really hard at it, with a lot of team chatter noticeable from the sidelines, giving each other encouragement and sharing duties at the front and they made big gains on team 1, with all three teams around the last cone and on the finishing straight on the final lap.

However, it was Team 1 that hung in there and held on for the win.

Congratulations to Team 1, whose members were....
