Club Champs - Road Race Saturday 25th April and Time Trial Saturday 9th May

Autumn is Champions season, and the time we find who will take home the club silverware in 2026.

For KCC, this means our Road Race and Time Time Club champs are about to kick off.

Saturday 25th April 1pm - Road Race

The Road Race will be held on Saturday 25th April, starting at 1pm, on our NEW hybrid Te Horo course - see the new route here    We might use this course for one leg of our Winter Series, so here is an opportunity to get familiar with it.  It is slightly shorter (18km instead of 22km per lap) and it removes two of the barrel turns, so it is likely to be slightly faster and is more flowing than the full course up through the Totara Tunnel.

Online entries are closed now, please enter at registration on the day, the $10 late fee applies.

After the races, please join us at the newly renovated Te Horo Hall for debrief, prizegiving, coffee and biscuits

Registrations will be in the Te Horo Hall from 11.30am.   A-grade will be set off at 1pm, followed by B, C etc at 5 minute intervals.

Grades, laps and distances will be as follows:

A and B grades complete 3 laps (approx 54km)

C, D and E grades complete 2 laps (approx 36km)

Entries: KCC members $20 adult and $10 U19, Non-members $40 adult and $20 U19

** In the event that the weather on Saturday is unsuitable, the Reserve day will be Sunday 19th April.

Results will be available on a link to be provided on Friday 24th April.

Saturday 9th May 2pm - Time Trial (ITT and 2TTT options)

There are options for Individual Time Trials (ITT) and a 2-person team option (2TTT).  Club members who take on the race of truth (ITT) will be eligible for the Club's time trial trophies (mens and womens).  The 2TTT option is a good way for people with road bikes to have a crack.  TT bikes and road bikes are eligible (but not compulsory) for both the ITT and 2TTT events.  There will be a 65 plus and open categories in the 2up TT and open and road bike only categories in the individual TT.

Both trials will be held concurrently on our 6.2km Te Horo TT circuit, with all left hand turns.  View the course here.

Online entries are now open, and will remain open until racing starts.  Please see the full race rules and enter online here.

Registrations will be in the Te Horo Hall from 12.45am.  First riders will be away at 2pm sharp.

ITT - 3 laps (approx 18.6km)

2TTT (teams of 2) - 4 laps (approx 25km)

After the races, please join us at back at the Te Horo Hall for debrief, prizegiving, coffee and bikkies.

Entries (per rider): KCC members $20 adult and $10 U19, Non-members $40 adult and $20 U19

Would you like to help?

We will be looking for people to set up the course and to marshall for both events, so if you'd like to support (riding and non-riding options available), or if you will be bringing a support person who could help marshall, please let us know if you (or they!) can be a marshall.  Full training will be given.  Contact Gary on 027 440 5053

Getting there

Registration, toilets and parking for both events are at the Te Horo Community Hall on School Rd.  For those coming from further away, the new Otaki expressway is a godsend, but has made the interections unfamiliar - here are our instructions:

If driving from the south, stay on the Otaki expressway and take the exit for Otaki.  Turn right at the top of the ramp (crossing back over the expressway), then left at the roundabout onto Otaki Gorge Rd.  Turn right at Hautere Cross Rd, and stay on this road until you come to Te Horo Hall (on School Road).

If driving from the north, take the Otaki exit and turn right at the top of the ramp.  Drive through Otaki, over the old Otaki bridge then left over the bridge over the expressway.  Take the 1st exit at the roundabout, into Otaki Gorge Rd.  Turn right at Hautere Cross Rd, and stay on this road until you come to Te Horo Hall (on School Road).
