We're excited to annouce that we are offering a series of organized gravel rides with publicised routes for the coming summer. Members are encouraged to register their interest via email, so we can manage group sizes. Each ride will be limited to a maximum of 10 riders per group; when necessary, we will split into smaller groups with staggered start times to minimize our impact on other trail users.
Trail Etiquette for KCC Gravel Riders
KCC gravel riders are expected to respect and contribute to a positive shared trail culture. Because we share the trails with all other users, including older e-bike riders, horses, walkers, and new cyclists. Every rider is required to have a bell on their bike and to use it to alert others when passing, maintaining a safe speed and distance.
Ride Leadership and Support
An appointed club member will lead the initial rides. However, we expect that the role of ride leader will rotate among regular riders over time. The ride leader's role includes ensuring everyone knows the route, maintaining a positive group dynamic, and ideally finishing the ride together without anyone getting lost. Additionally, an experienced rider will be designated to stay at the back of the group, assisting as needed. We will also stop and regroup at intervals. A post-ride café stop is planned, so bring some cash!
Ride Schedule
We will schedule a couple of rides each month, primarily on Sundays, starting at 8:30 am. Registered participants will receive email confirmation of the start time before each ride.
Below is the initial ride schedule. If you would like to join, please email kapiticc.committee.steve@gmail.com to register your interest. Details for each ride will be confirmed via email a few days in advance. Note that rides may be cancelled if there is insufficient interest.
