Like a classic Links course, our Te Horo circuit showed its true colours with the addition of a good nor'west breeze for Race 4 - it couldn't have been more different from the windless day a few weeks ago! Cross-winds, combined with some fiesty racing tactics made for a tough day in the saddle, resulting in many plans being blown away, others exectued, and all grades breaking up. There were plenty of smiles at the finish, however, which was great to see.
While our regular photographer, Mark Frickleton, took a week off, we were very lucky to have a number of cameras out on the course, capturing the beauty of the course and effort etched on many a face. See our Gallery for images from Judah Plester Photography, plus supporters Kimberly and Laura R.
Once again, our sincere thanks to the team of Very Good People who Marshalled, set-up/packed-up the course, registered almost 70 riders, cleaned up, and cheered on riders. It takes a team of around 20 volunteers to put on the event. Thank you to consistently showing up to race, and bring friends!
We still have one race to go in the Series (the postponed Race 1), which will be held this coming Saturday (31st August) - also the last day of Winter! So please ENTER and maybe bring a friend/son/daughter/partner with you this coming Saturday. The beauty of graded racing is that there's room for all levels of riders.
We're missing a few timing chips - numbers 29, 46, 55, 63 and 78. If you've accidentally taken one home, can you please get in touch with us? These cost the Club $25 each to replace.
