80/20 plan for the 14th of August

Hi all.

Nice riding last weekend - with everyone clocking up at least 80km.

This week will see up upping the ante slightly with some extra kms.  It's 90km back to Waikanae Beach - but by the time we get back to Paraparaumu, we should easily tick over the 100km milest0ne.

There are a couple of little hilly bits as well - so the key there is going to be taking it easy on the uphill bits.  As we've had a couple of people find out - the false flat sections in Te Horo can be real leg sappers - so as a group we should slow down slightly going up Otaki Gorge Road so that we aren't putting people into difficulty.  The key to what we are doing is all about volume at an easy pace - so how fast we are traveling isn't as important as time in the saddle.   Remember we're making the cake rather than eating the cake (if that statement doesn't make sense, click HERE for more information about the ethos and goals of the group).

Glynis will take the regular group this week and Neil will take a faster group (perfect recovery ride for those who have raced on Saturday).

The route is similar to last week - with the addition of a bit of shared path riding to get us north quicker, and then some side roads to keep things interesting - and we'll head further up Otaki Gorge Road through the tunnel of trees (Totara Alley I just learned is the official name).
