After the rain cancellation of last weeks event, this week’s weather proved to be ideal racing conditions. A “slight” breeze helped keep the warm conditions exactly right for the event.

Although numbers were slightly down due to many people still enjoying their summer break, the racing proved to be as competitive as ever.

First up was the combined C and D grades over 25 minutes plus two laps. The seven starters soon settled down into two groups with the C Grade riders testing each other out as the race progressed. Junior rider Euan Mason was an early aggressor in trying to break clear. The final sprint in C Grade saw evergreen John Pratt taking out a convincing win with Adrian and John R close behind. Junior Euan finished in 4th.

D Grade largely kept together until the final couple of laps with Francis taking the win from Steve and Doug.

C Grade:

John Pratt                       1st                        15 points

Adrian McKenzie          2nd                       12 Points

John Rowlinson            3rd                        10 points

Euan Mason                   4th                        8 Points

D Grade:

Francis de Hair              1st                        15 points

Steve Gregan                 2nd                       12 Points

Doug Barrett                  3rd                        10 Points

Next up was the 30 minutes plus two laps A and B Grade. The six starters very soon settled down into a fast aggressive pace. Mike (The Missile) Proudfoot quickly asserted his authority over the group by riding away to a race winning position. Great viewing for the spectators. Back in the bunch the pace was relentless in trying to claw back on Mike’s lead.

The final sprint for A grade was as predictable, Mike taking the convincing win with Leon taking second in the Grade.

B Grade saw Lee taking a clear win from fast chasing Gary followed by Junior rider James then Tony.

A Grade:

Mike Proudfoot            1st                        15 Points

Leon Goodwin               2nd                       12 Points

B Grade:

Lee Pownell                    1st                        15 Points

Gary Clareburt              2nd                       12 Points

James de Hair                3rd                       10 Points

Tony Levaggi                  4th                        8 Points

As noted above, we have introduced season long positional points competition, the rider in each grade amassing the highest total will be awarded a grade trophy.  Be in to win.

A special thanks to Dianna for her continued support at registration, also to Gary and Mike for course set and the riders assisting in the course takedown. Always appreciated.

Next event Tuesday 2nd February. The Club looks forward to seeing you on the start line.
