Who would have guessed that Saturday would turn out to be a glorious spring day after Friday's deluge! As soon as we heard about the RTE we knew we had to do it. Four of us have been training for Octobers K2 and thought that this sounded like a great excuse for a long training ride. Team Over the Top was formed (in hindsight we should have named the team Over the Hill ...due to the age of its members (John excluded). The team consisted of David Brazier, Allen Hutchison, Stephen Snell and John Borthwick....

The Hope Gibbons Team Time Trial is being held on Saturday the 9th of October (day before the Tour of Waikanae).I'm keen to do it and I'd love to see a couple of Kapiti teams there. It s 40km 4 person team event and is being held in Whitemans Valley in Upper Hutt. Something new for me - so I'm looking to learn the ropes from the experience of those that did it last year. Can anyone that's interested please contact me (bam@paradise.net.nz or click here) and I'll see if we can get together some sharp...

It was to be an adventure like no other. Our team comprised 4 of us that often ride together on the Sunday rides and for us the Full Monty was always going to be a serious challenge - well for some of us anyway! During the week we were sorry to lose our team mate Gerry to sickness but Gerry offered to become our Team Manager - which we gratefully accepted and after a few texts back forward we managed to get Bria on board. Our team was Gary Jones, Martin Penny, Bria Colbert...

Oonce! Oonce! Oonce! How many times do you get to do a cool ride with your buddies and have a tail wind for 154 kilometres? Not many, if any! Oonce! Oonce! Oonce! It was Matt who convinced us it was a good idea to enter in the Road to Erewhon event, not that he had ridden his bike at all in the last month, but he is a very determined person, and he never gives up, no matter how crap he feels. He has also done more 160km plus...

Team Homestyle's Ride To Erehwon

Presented by Homestyle magazine www.homestylemagazine.co.nzThis great ride popped up into the team calendar after Matt Webber told us he was entered in a team and we were all to be racing. A whip around of riders and we had a potential 5. Due to family commitments and injury, the list dropped down to three. Luckily, our injured rider, Reuben was keen as mustard to be a team manager! Knowing that the good guys up at Kapiti would sort us out, I got our entry in and let them know that we were short a ride....

Ride to Erehwon - Team Mourning Wood Getting a team organised for this proved to be both impossible and simple; I went through a long list of candidates, all of whom couldn't make it for one reason or another. Then I turned to Adrian and Dave, the internet cycle dating service. Mind you even that didn't go so smoothly at first and a number of good riders who had expressed interest had conflicts so couldn't ride. However in the end I was set up with a strong looking team - Miles Davies, first in the youth...

Chapeau (hats off) to the brave souls who took a leap of faith and signed up and rode in the inaugural Ride to Erehwon. I'm pretty sure it paid off with lots of smiles and tired people ringing the bell at the Alfredton School hall with stories of their adventures. When Dave and I announced the event - we thought if we got 5 or 6 teams that'd be a result. So we were rapt to get 11 teams lining up for the start of the Full Monty - and a further 3 teams taking on the...

Having completed the hill climb silver challenge last weekend, I thought i would have a crack at the 100km's today. Knowing I could do it I decided to make this a little more challenging by deciding to do an Aka's loop, and so I did. Four hours later I was back at home tired but happy. The full ride report is on my blog here:http://round2round.blogspot.com/2010/09/free-falling.html (http://round2round.blogspot.com/2010/09/free-falling.html)That completes silver for me. I am planning on going for gold, but that is going to take some training and Taupo comes first. The next 12 weeks of my cycling life are going to...
