Another great week of racing with fantastic numbers of people enjoying getting out there and mixing it up. 84 timed finishers - plus a few more that rode without chips.
Dan Waluszewski picked up the points yet again in the A grade. Seemingly all he has to do is to finish the next couple of races to take the series. But a clean sweep of the points is possible - something to shoot for Dan?
The B grade was well taken by Andrew Linton whose win sees him climb to 2nd in the points series and is good reward for the long drive over from Masterton. If there was an award for the most attacking ride - it would have gone to the PNP rider (Oliver Ferry?) that made attack after attack and made us work hard to chase him down everytime. As soon as the catch was made he'd catch his breath and then attack again. Was an impressive display. There was a bit of a prang with about a km to go in the B grade. I've seen the photos of Vaughn Pretorius's injuries from the crash - lots of cuts and grazes. I'm not sure how Tristan got on - but I'll get in touch with him and report back (suspected collarbone).
C grade saw Paul Larkin take his second win in a row and sounds like he was well clear of old combatants Doug Barret and Greg Cundy. And in the points in this grade - looks like it could come down to the wire in the remaining 2 races. Good stuff...
In the D grade Matt Oliver had good reward for hard work in training with a win that sees him jump into the lead of the D Grade points. Darryl Rutter was second with Gabriella Peach picking up the 3rd place points which sees her 2nd in the points - close behind Matt. So still plenty to ride for in this grade.
Mitchell Rutter cleared out to take a good win in the E grade - but I think the handicappers will be looking closely - with a move up to D grade the reward for a great ride. Looks like Adrian Lumsden and Eddie Stuart had a great tussle for 2nd spot with Adrian crossing the line just ahead. Adrian has a good lead in the points in this grade - and it's going to take a bit of work to stop him taking the series.
So there you have it. Another great day with good hard racing and plenty of smiling faces.
Tristam has emailed me asking for a postal address to return your belt and number to. I gave him my details. Nice belt.. thanks. Are you riding this weekend in Te Horo? If not, give me a call. Mb 0274 777291

Comment by GUEST on 2010-07-15 12:32:18 Hi Team,
if we do hear back from Tristan; can someone ask him for my race number and racebelt back? I used the b70 racebelt to sling up his arm whilst waiting for a more sutiable substitiute. My number is 194, and I have grown quite attached to this.
Cheers Adam
Comment by SteveC on 2010-07-14 15:17:10 Disappointed I missed the race. The attacking rider in B-grade sounds like Shane Fookes to me. Its Shane's style to ride like the energizer bunny, jumping off the front - he's even worse on a hilly course, but with hills there generally there aren't too many riders left to notice ;-)
Comment by GUEST on 2010-07-14 10:06:47 Thanks for looking into the point table for me, appreciate it. By the way, you guys are doing a great job in running this series.

Comment by GUEST on 2010-07-13 11:59:03 Congratulations to Matt for the win in D Grade - thoroughly well deserved as he always seemed to be at the front of the bunch doing the lions share of the work too. Thanks to the organisers and racers for a great day out and for making a first-timer welcome. Andrew I
Comment by matto on 2010-07-13 17:32:43 Wow 5 of us crossed the line in the same second! That's what I call a close finish! I am really pleased to have sorted out in my head that I can actually contest a sprint. Andrew for a first race you did excellent too!
Comment by GUEST on 2010-07-13 10:55:21 No worries Nigel
We'll review the tapes and adjust where necessary.
Probably easiest if anyone has a query regarding the points or results - to contact Dave Downer directly.
Cheers
Adrian.
