Wow, we had 49 riders tonight. Great conditions met our time trialists tonight. Most people made improvements on last week, with Sam recording a 6 second improvement to finish in 12:40. Ross Leger and Dave Downer combined on a Tandem to record 13:32, beating out Miles Davies on 13:37. I've updated the spreadsheet , fixing the vagaries of Excel and cross minute time calculations. Anyone perusing the sheet in detail will have already worked out that Matt Oliver made the biggest improvement fr0m last week, beating his previous time by over a minute (I suspect that in the last week, Matt has only just discovered where the large gear lever is...LOL). Thank you to our great marshals, and race management team - these races cannot run without you. Anyone who can help run the race in the Akatarawas next week, please contact either me or Dave Downer. Comment by matto on 2010-01-19 21:49:56 Thanks for another great event. I'd love to be there next week, however it clashed with my 8 year olds birthday, so ummm.....cycling, or birthday.....what would my wife say if I rode???? but then...I may be single and I'd have more time to ride....decisions decisions....nope. I wont be there. :-) Matt
| Comment by anthonyb on 2010-01-20 08:46:37 Thanks for all the good work. WIth all the improvements it's a shame we are not having more. A small point, I am such an IT Tester, the Improvement column is incorrect for those times that have traversed minute boundaries. So for example my improvement from 15:47 to 15:16 is correctly calculated to be 41 seconds, but JM's from 16:03 to 15:52 is calculated as 51 seconds but should be 11 seconds. Cheers Tony | Comment by GUEST on 2010-01-20 08:58:32 Darn it...Tony. Thanks for raising it. We had a couple of people over for dinner when I got back, so I wasn't in detail mode...just production mode. I'll have a look when I get some time..I'll have to do some conversion type calcs. Doing time calculations in Excel can be trying at times. CB | Comment by anthonyb on 2010-01-20 10:15:36 No worries CB, I know it is a pain. Flick it on to me if I can help. Cheers TB | Comment by GUEST on 2010-01-20 11:52:11 great fun as always. I improved! But Big Adi left before we could perform a drugs test! big improvements by Adi and Matt. Also Vaughan must have been pretty pumped up! Aaron Hopkins has 2 entries, the second appears to be his last week time. cheers BB | Comment by GUEST on 2010-01-20 17:32:34 Hi Guys, Another great night, thanks. Jessica Jenkins starting position was 2. Cheers Bruce. | Comment by stu on 2010-01-21 17:02:51 The only problem with the times appears to be that they are in decimal format. You could simply highlight the column and reformat. It may correct the 'difference' column. Gotta say - Pretty impressive times guys. Well done. :) Cheers, Stu. | Comment by GUEST on 2010-01-22 08:07:09 Miles.. Me second, you third...You owe me $10,00 | Comment by stephens on 2010-01-23 08:24:38 The calculation of time differences in Excel seems to quite involved. I found this interesting:- http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080131041323AAhHzX2 reference that might help. It is quite strict on the inputs, use ":" instead of "." and needs 100ths of seconds even if "000" . I should think someone with VB skills could tidy the macro up. Steve | Comment by matto on 2010-01-24 14:30:10 Nice update. :-) I thought time trials had to be completed on the small chain ring??? You mean to say I'm allowed the Large one....sheesh I could have taken another 5 minutes off if I knew that. (I wish anyway). Seriously though, there was something wrong with my bike the week before and I didn't know it. The back chain tensioner cogs were all gunked up and seriously impacting my power. I also changed tires from Armadillo's to Diamante pro's during the week, and ate properly on the day. Based on my Heart Rate data I actually put in a little less work on the second run. The time improvement goes to show how much of a difference having your gear well looked after and having the right tires and food counts. Sadly I'll be missing this weeks trial up the hill. | |
