60/40 ride for 5th Feb

Kia Ora,

We had a nice run in warm conditions on Sunday and covered around 80km.  We managed to stay as a group for most of the ride too, it was just that last couple of km!  An idea pinched from others and shared over coffee was that the first riders to the top of selected hills should ride back and repeat from the last rider instead of waiting at the top.  You tack on a bit more distance and it is more encouraging for those last guys to have someone with them instead of grinding away on your own.  It is also  very depressing to gasp your way to the top to have everyone then up and leave when you have had no recovery time !! So all you guys who sprint to the top……

Our first February stint is a flat ride to Otaki Forks and again there are lots of opportunities to come part of the way including whether Kaitawa Hill  is  included on your route or not!  We start of course at TBI past the roundabout on Rimu Road, go along to Kapiti Road, turn off at Te Roto, Guildford Drive, Realm Drive, Mazengarb Road, then Ratanui Road to Otaihanga.  Turn right at Weggery then off to Pekapeka and through Te Horo via the back roads.  We come out at Addington road and turn left to SH1 then right onto Otaki Forks and follow the usual route returning from School Road back the way we came.

Check out the route below,

Then meet up for coffee at Robert Harris.

Cheers

Sue
